Defence Ratings

Defence budgets that are allocated for the development and maintainance of military personnel and technology by different countries are a major economic indicator. They are also a figure that displays the aspirations and the security aims of a nation and can be used to reveal the level of readiness of countries to engage in military activities.
The first place, once again as the Economist indicates (http://www.economist.com/blogs/dailychart/2011/03/defence_budgets), is Saudi Arabia. They might not use the DNA Testing for military purposes as the Western powers do, but the Arabs are spending crazy money in order to maintain stable army. They still fear Iran as a potential threat in the whole region and the country is ensuring military stability in order to strike back any potential threats.
The United States and Russia are taking the second and third place. Understandably, the countries are fighting over the dominance over the world and are aiming to produce the top quality military personnel and technology. China, however, is gaining force and is getting stronger - the Asians are rapidly climbing the military budget charts and are investing quite huge financial capital in the development of military and stealth technology that would soon satisfy the demands of the Chinese army.
The UK, even in times of recession, manages to maintain its strong position along with France. The two countries concluded a strong military treaty for cooperation. The Brits, however, unlike their French comrades, are planning on reducing the dependency of the UK army on the British nuclear power. Where the French consider it a national priority, the UK is stepping back from being the among the most powerful nuclear powers in the world.
